I have been painting all my life. My first success was as a child when I won a children's competition organised by some visiting evangelists to the village where I lived. Each year they came and each year I won until they eventually approached my Dad and I was gently asked to stop entering. I later studied both 2D and 3D art in various mediums as part of my NNEB training and went on to teach in schools in Nottingham and Leicester. I studied letterpress and poster printing at the Leicester School of Print and ran a successful printing business designing my own artwork whilst my children were young. I have attended many art courses in drawing, water colour, portraiture and acrylics in and around Leicester and as part of my OU degree I studied Art History and Appreciation. My work has gone all round the world to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, America, India, Sweden, the Isle of Mull and of course England. Five years ago I formed the Blaby Society of Artists which now has nearly 50 members and I regularly exhibit with them and the Countesthorpe Active Arts group. I love to paint 'en plein air' and encourage members to do so by holding workshops in my garden. I work in many mediums. Watercolour, heavy body acrylics, torn paper, water based oils and often use natural leaves and feathers etc to add interest. But I always take my water colours when we go on holiday.
